Salt Plains Nat'l Wildlife Refuge

The Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge is one of the more significant public spaces in the Southern Great Plains for viewing wildlife, engaging in outdoor photography, hiking, and enjoying the “great outdoors”. Migratory birds of all types stop over at the refuge as they make their way north in the early spring and summer and then again each fall as they migrate to warmer shores along the Texas coastline and South America. If you enjoy taking great photos of wildlife, bird-watching, hunting, fishing, and hiking—plan to make the refuge your next outing destination. Don’t forget to bring your tools for “crystal digging” at the salt flats just north of Jet, Oklahoma. The Refuge has a great program suited for kids of all ages!
