City Parks and Campgrounds

Alva, Waynoka and Freedom have city parks and campgrounds available for travelers or visitors to the area. Waynoka is home to several “duner” parks which are located in close proximity to the Little Sahara State Park and can be accessed by off-road vehicles from the park. The community also is home to two city parks with playground equipment and tent camping. Freedom’s American Legion park is the location of the Veterans’ Memorial, tennis courts, Old Cowhand Monument, and playground equipment. The park is the location of the annual Old Cowhand Feed, which is held each August in conjunction with the Freedom Rodeo. The Almeda Carson RV Park is located on Cimarron Road on the east edge of Freedom and full hook-ups are available. Alva’s Hatfield Park is located on the northwest corner of town adjacent to the WPA City Pool. The park is a wonderful place for cook-outs and other outdoor gatherings. RV parking is available in Alva from several private property owners. Alva is also home to the Alva Recreational Park and Complex which is a total sport facility for baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and other sports. Youth and Adult Tournaments are held throughout the year at the “Rec Park”. For more information about camping or use of any of these facilities, just contact the Chambers of Commerce in Alva, Waynoka or Freedom for more details.
