Alabaster Caverns State Park

Alabaster Caverns State Park is located 6 miles south of Freedom off of state highway 50. The park is home to the largest natural gypsum caves open to the public in the world. The caves are inhabited by millions of bats during the summer months and are the location to access tour buses to the Mexican Free-Tail Bat Watches at the Selman Living Laboratory which is located nearby. The bat watches are scheduled for each week-end in July every year! The park is an excellent location for hiking and rock climbing, camping, and wildlife viewing. The region’s fantastic cedar canyons and gyprock mesas are tops for outdoor photography enthusiasts!
